(disaster recovery plan put into action)
Waiting is not a solution . . .
For a customer that has been with you for circa 7 years... oof... sucks to be me I guess...
Paying more for the same host is not a solution . . . (as mentioned on twitter by someone, did not get offer)
I appreciate the effort, but you did nothing for me these past 10 days . . .
I had to move on . . .
I also feel for you guys and gals that have businesses and are impacted by this incident... Stay strong!
OVH and any other provider performing same practices... I'm sorry, but it just can't continue like this. Either you are capable of providing what the user or company needs or not . . .
I also disagree with a lot of people blaming others for not keeping their own backup in the company:
Sure, a disaster can happen, but a small company with low income will not understand how it is possible for a copy (that is claimed to be securely held) to be also impacted . . .
It's like you would store important copy of the documents on the same desk instead of a safe or just at company owner's home . . .
If someone pays for a backup service that is TO-SECURE data, they expect it to be secured with high recovery probability, keeping backups in the, as claimed on twitter, same datacenter lowers that probability and makes such service more or less pointless. . .
Such small company could've been better of asking a local IT every now and then to do a backup to local PC, even notebook instead of trusting such a ridiculously set up service, I'm sorry . . .
The proper form of action, especially that a lot of businesses are impacted and you are just incapable of providing the temporary service in a resonable amount of time, is to release backups to such customers in question ASAP and advice them to be on their own for time being . . .
That is... if you can't provide anything more at the given point of time . . .
If your backup is not as secure as believed to be, you should provide a proper information for all customers on what may happen for a backup to be useless in your terms. This way customers know what their risk still is EXACTLY . . .
A company then has a better view on such matters and may consult others what a proper form of action should be. We can't expect everyone to know everything, right? If you know doesn't mean that your friend does . . . Information Technology is all about information, properly transferred, stored, passed.
Let others learn how important a mind in the ether is nowadays! It's not just a simple table-iframe website business like the old times but sometimes, quite profiting or main income, B2B / B2C sites, the e-commerce. Which is especially important during those hard times . . .
Please! Everybody learn from that lesson for our better future. I beg all of you!
Web Cameras Spy Online is back online
Virtual 4MY EU projects are back online
I apologise to everybody who had to wait... tsk... there is just too much of a chaos right now...
Nothing else here to see, just a remnant of history that once happened . . . (more info)
